Summary

Sometimes you find what you yearn for…

When her dad gets a job overseas, Konatsu Amano has to leave the Tokyo life she’s always known and relocate to a small seaside town to stay with her aunt。 The move also means starting a new school surrounded by complete strangers, and it’s a lot to handle for a girl who has trouble with change。 But on her first day in her new town, Konatsu is instantly drawn to Koyuki, an older girl who is the sole member of the Aquarium Club。 Konatsu’s introverted tendencies are hard for her to overcome, but maybe she’s found something worth coming out of her shell for?

A sudden fever keeps Koyuki from participating at the Aquarium Club open house during the Nanahama High School culture festival。 After a successful solo amberjack show, Konatsu stops by to wish Koyuki well and teasingly compares her to the salamander from a short story。 Now Koyuki can’t stop thinking about how Konatsu once compared herself to the frog from that story。 As school obligations keep them apart, Koyuki and Konatsu start to realize just how important they are to each other。

Volume four continues to be as sweet as the previous ones。 This book centers completely around Koyuki and her feelings for Konatsu。 She's anxious over wanting to be near Konatsu but fearing she'd be too forward with it if she said something, and also the fact that she'll be graduating soon but Konatsu still has a year to go。 What will happen to them? This volume didn't have any clear highlights but it's slowly building up Koyuki's feelings and also deepening her character which has turned out a b Volume four continues to be as sweet as the previous ones。 This book centers completely around Koyuki and her feelings for Konatsu。 She's anxious over wanting to be near Konatsu but fearing she'd be too forward with it if she said something, and also the fact that she'll be graduating soon but Konatsu still has a year to go。 What will happen to them? This volume didn't have any clear highlights but it's slowly building up Koyuki's feelings and also deepening her character which has turned out a bit different than you'd think in the beginning。 She looks like this cool older student but she's actually not very confident person。I might've said this before but if you like Bloom Into You, you may very well like this one too。 。。。more

More of a 3。5 star rating; This was another slow paced volume but I liked it because it was more so in Koyuki’s perspective。 We got to see her anxiety about graduation a bit and a lot of her anxiety over her friendship/feelings for Konatsu。My issue is that because this volume, and the previous one, have been so slow-paced I only see things between the main characters as a friendship with a small crush。 I understand that they need time to fully understand and process their feelings for each other, More of a 3。5 star rating; This was another slow paced volume but I liked it because it was more so in Koyuki’s perspective。 We got to see her anxiety about graduation a bit and a lot of her anxiety over her friendship/feelings for Konatsu。My issue is that because this volume, and the previous one, have been so slow-paced I only see things between the main characters as a friendship with a small crush。 I understand that they need time to fully understand and process their feelings for each other, but I’m worried with how things are going to actually progress between the girls once Koyuki graduates。 。。。more

The yearning is coming, the yearning is coming! I love how soft and sweet and cozy this romance manga is, set by the sea with the aquarium club。 And the covers are gorgeous。 I hope we get a confession soon!

'A Tropical Fish Yearns For Snow' continues to be dramatic and full of longing emotion - the two girls are separated by various events and continue to miss each other desperately, while still not really being able to express how much they mean to each other。 It's kind of odd that I keep hearing that this isn't intended/ending up as a romantic pairing, because they're _so_ into each other, to the exclusion of everyone else - even as they talk about wanting to be able to be friends with people, we 'A Tropical Fish Yearns For Snow' continues to be dramatic and full of longing emotion - the two girls are separated by various events and continue to miss each other desperately, while still not really being able to express how much they mean to each other。 It's kind of odd that I keep hearing that this isn't intended/ending up as a romantic pairing, because they're _so_ into each other, to the exclusion of everyone else - even as they talk about wanting to be able to be friends with people, we see them putting off their peers for another chance to be together。 Ah well; it's cute and full of melodrama, and with two adorably overwrought introverts。 。。。more

3。5 stars and I’m rounding down because this volume didn’t quite do it for me and it took me a while but I think I figured out why。 Make no mistake, there are still a ton of good parts in this series, but this wasn’t as strong as I’d hoped。The book separating our two leads for a good chunk of its story is not necessarily a bad idea - it certainly gives us a chance to see Koyuki’s anxieties at their absolute worst (oh I’m so glad to be old enough to have missed out on playing text message chicken 3。5 stars and I’m rounding down because this volume didn’t quite do it for me and it took me a while but I think I figured out why。 Make no mistake, there are still a ton of good parts in this series, but this wasn’t as strong as I’d hoped。The book separating our two leads for a good chunk of its story is not necessarily a bad idea - it certainly gives us a chance to see Koyuki’s anxieties at their absolute worst (oh I’m so glad to be old enough to have missed out on playing text message chicken while in high school) and forced her to reckon with her feelings。。。。。。but Koyuki and Konatsu haven’t been together enough to make me feel like this was the right time for this to come in the story。 Yes, we have a previous three volumes of them becoming friends, but the pace of this series is so slow (and that’s not a pejorative, merely an observation) that it feels like more should have happened before they get pulled apart。Your mileage may vary, but I feel like they should have been on the cusp of something before this trip split them up, but with everybody being so guarded it’s hard to tell where things stand at any given moment (this series makes a simple hug look like a victory in the decisive battle of any given war)。I did like a bunch of things in this book and it was nice to see Koyuki struggling to see the aquarium show at the start when she was sick, and the aftermath when Konatsu visits her was probably the highlight of this volume。 Further, while I don’t think the Tokyo trip was used as judiciously as it could have been either, the random encounter Koyuki has with a stranger there is also pretty fun too。 And the rapid transition of the open house from victory to anxiety attack that leads into the finale was quite memorable (and believable)。I don’t mind all the frog and salamander symbolism, but it remains to be seen if it will amount to anything。 Still, it served as a stuffed animal delivery vehicle, so it can’t be all bad。 And this is a particularly inconsequential detail, but I really loved that somebody noticed Konatsu continues to wear her old school uniform。My guess is that this volume will function better for me once I have a subsequent volume in hand to sandwich this one in place。 Right now it feels like it was a bit too soon, even as it was putting gas in the tank for the future。 。。。more

This series is sooo cute!Gee, I really love this one。 Both those girls are just adorable。 I hope they continue to grow close to each other & can find ways to express their love for each other。 They have something really special。 Hopefully they can realize it。 Now for the long wait for volume 5! Bleh。 Anyhow。。。 art, fantastic。 Dialogue, very good, very real。 Characters, believable, likeable, loveable, admirable。

This volume is almost entirely from Koyuki's perspective, which, while it doesn't help us get a handle on Konatsu, does nicely advance the romance plot by showing us how Koyuki is truly falling in love with Konatsu。 She's almost growing dependent on the other girl, which is an issue that the story will eventually have to work on, because ultimately they can't be just like the frog and the salamander - and neither would they want to be, because then the salamander (Koyuki) would have to kill the This volume is almost entirely from Koyuki's perspective, which, while it doesn't help us get a handle on Konatsu, does nicely advance the romance plot by showing us how Koyuki is truly falling in love with Konatsu。 She's almost growing dependent on the other girl, which is an issue that the story will eventually have to work on, because ultimately they can't be just like the frog and the salamander - and neither would they want to be, because then the salamander (Koyuki) would have to kill the frog (Konatsu)。 That's an issue that Koyuki's beginning to become aware of, and I'm looking forward to how she handles it when volume five comes out。Full review of volumes 1-4 eventually appearing on ANN。 。。。more

Tengo un conflicto interno con lo mucho que me ha estado gustado este manga, solo necesito que todo entre Konatsu y Koyuki salga bien:(
